GolfMatch Fantasy Forecast: The Greenbrier Classic

What a great playoff finish last week at the Travelers Championship, congrats Bubba! This week we have the Greenbrier Classic on the Old White TPC in Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. The players should be able to go low on this 7,287 yard-course. Strong ball strikers should really be able to take advantage and put up great scores on one of the easier par-70s on the Tour’s schedule. Perhaps we will see someone make a run at that elusive score of 59!

GolfMatch Fantasy Forecast: Travelers Championship – TPC River Highlands

After a week of grinding through the US Open’s tough set up, inconsistent greens, and annual slugfest of international heavyweights, the Travelers Championship has a tough act to follow. The short par 70 TPC River Highlands lends itself to low scores and an entirely different approach than a US Open track. Scoring will be, and always is low, and is often referred to as a ‘shootout’ – a category the US Open would rarely fall into. Many of the contenders from last week are scheduled to play this week in CT, so it should be interesting to see how they follow up their performances at Chambers Bay.

The second major of the year is upon us! This year the 115th edition of the U.S. Open will be held in the Pacific Northwest (for the first time ever) at Chambers Bay in University Place, Washington. The Robert Trent Jones, Jr. course is a links-style layout and is only 8 years-old. The par-70 course should play around 7,700 yards although it could be maxed out at a whopping 7,906 yards.

The One True King – Arnold Palmer

For some reason I have been thinking a lot this week about the one true King – Arnold Palmer. Arnies Army, Letrobe, King of Cool, Class, Role Model, half and half (his signature cocktail) are all words which can be associated with the greatest athlete of the decade in the 60s.

GolfMatch Fantasy Forecast: St. Jude Classic – TPC Southwind

This week’s St. Jude Classic serves as the perennial opening act for the second major of the year. I like to break up the players in this week’s field into two groups: (1) Players tuning up for next week’s US Open (2) Players looking to win the St. Jude Classic. Part of the reason it’s […]

GolfMatch Fantasy Forecast: Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village

This week the PGA Tour heads to Muirfield Village for Jack Nicklaus’ Memorial Tournament. As usual, thanks to its honorable host, the event has drawn a strong field with Spieth, Rose, Fowler, Day and Dustin Johnson headlining. Tiger will be in the mix as well, playing in his first tournament since the PLAYERS and only his fifth of 2015.

Social Media’s Impact on Golf History

Social media is apart of everything we do these days. It is how we consume information, how we hear about breaking news, and how we interact with friends and family. However, this staple in all of our lives has only been truly significant for the past decade.
